🥚🐔 Our Very First Egg – And It Wasn’t Where We Expected! 🎉
Share
For weeks, we’ve been playing the long game – prepping the nesting boxes with fake eggs, like good little chicken parents. It's an old trick that helps show the girls where it's safe to lay. We’d check the boxes each day with hopeful eyes... and nothing.
But yesterday – oh boy, what a surprise!
We popped into the coop like usual, and there it was – a perfect little egg, sitting proudly in the corner of the coop, not the nesting box we had so carefully set up. Classic chook behaviour.
It was on the smaller side – we’re not sure if that’s because it’s a first-time egg or maybe our brown shavers just don’t lay whoppers. Either way, we were buzzing.
We cracked it open to inspect the goods, and the yolk was a stunning, pure yellow – not that deep supermarket orange you sometimes get. Just a clean, honest yolk from a happy chook. 🐣💛
Needless to say, we were very excited. Like, take-a-video-and-cheer excited.
🎥 Check out the video of us discovering the egg tucked away in the corner – little legends that our girls are!
After a bit of chicken sleuthing (aka checking who was lurking in that corner most nights), we reckon we’ve found our mystery layer... McChicken! That’s right – she’s officially laid claim to being the first egg-layer of the flock. Go on girl! 🐓🌟
💬 Have your chooks ever laid their first egg somewhere strange? Drop us a message or tag us in your stories – we’d love to hear all the egg-citing tales!
Until next time,
